The Pazo Casa do Cuadrante (The manor house with a sundial), nowadays Valle-Inclán House-Museum, was declared National Historic-Artistic Heritage “MONUMENTO HISTÓRICO ARTÍSTICO DE CARÁCTER NACIONAL” by Spanish Royal Decree 249/1976 (Official State Gazette of 17 February) by birth of the child Ramón José Simón Valle Peña in the main room, later on known as Ramón del Valle-Inclán.
This property belonged to the real estate of Benedictine priory of Vilanova , split up and then owned by Francisco de la Peña Cardecid and Josefa Montenegro y Saco Bolaño, writer’s maternal grandparents.
After a fire in 1994 that destroyed the inside, it was purchased and restored by the Council of Vilanova de Arousa. Nowadays it hosts Valle-Inclán House-Museum, opened on 25 May 2002.
