Casa da Troia Museum

The Casa da Troia Museum is located in the heart of Santiago de Compostela old town, very close to the church of San Martiño Pinario the Cathedral. The museum re-creates the environment and decoration of a students' dormitory and Santiago's university life of late 19th century. The recreation is based in the novel by Alejandro Pérez Lugín “La Casa de la Troya” (House of the Troy). From 1886 to 1906 the Casa da Troia was a students' dormitory. The 90s restoration reconfigured the rooms and chambers just like the guesthouse that appears in the novel.

It is composed of pieces from the Cathedral Treasure, like goblets, processional sceptres or sacred ornaments. The museum was funded in 1984 by a patronage of Fonsagrada neighbours. Currently, the town council and the high and elementary schools are part of the association. The museum houses etnographic, archaeological and contemporary art pieces.

The etnographic section presents a pantry, a smith's forge and a hearth. This section shows elements of rural trades, farm work, countryside and religiousness. Another important part is dedicated to migration, where the visitor can behold the memories of a local emigrant in Buenos Aires and Havana.

Terra de Melide Museum

The Terra de Melide Museum is located in interior Galicia in a region very linked to pilgrimage to Santiago; indeed, the French Way and the Northern (via Oviedo) Way cross the town. In 2001, it was reopened in the old Hospital of Sancti Spíritus.

The collection is organised in several sections. The first hall houses the Ways of Saint James, with photographs of the monuments in Saint James' Way, a model of the monuments in Terra de Melide, medieval capitals, 15th century sarcophagus, mural painting and the history of the Pilgrims Hospital of Sancti Spíritus.

Sacred Art of Clare Sisters from Monforte Museum

This sacred art museum, one of the most important in Galicia, occupies some of the chambers of the Saint Clare convent in Monforte de Lemos. The convent was founded in 1622 by Catarina de la Cerda y Sandoval, wife to Pedro Fernández de Castro, VII Count of Lemos. Catarina was ordained in this convent once she was widowed; This patronage is of vital importance, given that the collection houses part of the great artistic legacy from both of these nobles. The legacy includes magnificent paintings, sculptures, ivories, textiles and sumptuary objects (especially reliquaries).
