Room located at the upper floor of the new building closet o main house. The ancient stone house at this place had been theatre, according to references from the last quarter of 19th century.
«Some years ago I was honored to attend, as Ateneo secretary, to a banquet on master’s return from one of his successful American tours. I had the pleasure to propose to recover some old blazoned stones referring to his noble ancestors as a gift to this fighter. Many adhered then, but time went by and it was forgotten. Let us recover it. Valle work is the milestone where Spanish language merges with the Galician richness, flexibility, irony and detail. The current building follows the Bermúdez tower restoration plan by Carlos Fernández Gago, Art heritage expert, architect from Coruña, and advisor at Fine Arts commission, Consellería de Cultura, Xunta de Galicia. This initiative was covered by Royal decree: Real decreto 249/1976, January 9th 1976, that declares the place as National monument of historic/artistic interest. Usage is therefore limited «away from reforms or innovations undermining its pattern».
It was opened in April 30th 1988 as Valle-Inclán Auditorium and restored in 2003 under the Dirección Xeral de Patrimonio with the current set up and equipment, in order to value the new building, as functional and legal space of one of the best Galician Renaissance monuments.
The following exhibition is displayed Valle-Inclán: Retratos, Caricaturas y Visiones, composed by 40 graphic pieces by SIRO, Siro López, well known cartoon artist from Ferrol. This was donated, subject to preservation, permanent exhibition, access control conditions and custody according to the local heritage and museum regulations.
A unique opportunity to watch arts and artists dialogue: the literature genius with the contemporary cartoon master, around pictures from don Ramón time. These pictures capture physic, dressing and soul features belonging to Valle-Inclán individual. Don Ramón and his work inspired some of the most popular cultural icons. Hence the huge number of pictures, drawing, sculptures, engravings, etc. that remember him from his merit, not only in Literature History, but also in the current Literature and Arts.
This is the most outstanding collection of contemporary icons about «the best artist in Galicia» according to Castelao.
