Otero Pedrayo Cultural Foundation

The museum

The Otero Pedrayo Museum is located in the place of Cimadevila, in the parish of Trasalba of the City Council of Amoeiro, Ourense. In this site, the Otero Pedrayo Foundation saves the memory of the patriarch of the Letras Galegas (modern Galician literature).

Ramón Otero Pedrayo (Ourense 1888 -1976) was an essential personality in the cultural and political life of Galicia. Writer, professor, politician and editor, Pedrayo worked with the idea of fostering Galician culture and nation. He was part of great institutional initiatives for developing Galician culture, like the Partido Galeguista (Galician Party), the Seminario de Estudos Galegos (Galician Studies Seminar) or the Galaxia publishing house. These institutions continue being a reference of hard work and knowledge.

The visit to the museum presents the writer's personal objects, furniture and his library, along with the traditional structure of a Galician pazo from early 20th century. The funds proceed from the life donation from Ramón Otero Pedrayo to Galaxia of the properties in Trasalba, including the pazo and the adjoining properties. The various accesses, properly indicated, and the situation of the pazo-museum allow the visitor to enjoy wonderful landscapes of interior Galicia.
